Romania | The 24 Semi-Finalists of Selectia Nationala Announced



Following the schedule, the Romanian national broadcaster TVR made public today the results of the national jury's votes, announcing the semi-finalists of Selectia Nationala 2019.

Here are the 24 entries that will compete in order to be Romania's representative(s) in Eurovision 2019:

  • "Daina" - Letitia Moisescu & Sensibil Balkan

  • "Dear Father" - Laura Bretan

  • "Destin" - Trooper

  • "Discrete" - Xonia

  • "Give Up Now" - Johnny Badulescu

  • "High Heels On" - Echoes

  • "Ielele" - 2 Gents

  • "Independent" - Xandra

  • "Make Me Your Man" - TWM

  • "On a Sunday" - Ester Peony

  • "Pierd" - Dan Bittman

  • "Right Now" - Olivier Kaye

  • "Rock This Way" - Ommieh x Anakrisez

  • "Skyscraper" - Teodora Dinu

  • "Tears" - Georgy

  • "The Call" - Berniceya

  • "The Song of my Heart" - The Four

  • "The Way It Goes" - Steam

  • "Underground" - Vaida

  • "We are the Ones" - Claudiu Mirea

  • "Weight of the World" - Nicola

  • "Without You (Sin ti)" - Dya & Lucian Colareza

  • "Your Journey" - Aldo Blaga


Perhaps the most important fact is that among the semi-finalists we can see not one, but three ex-representatives of Romania in ESC: Dan Bittman (1994), Nicola (2003) and Mihai Traistariu (2006)! As we mentioned before, Laura Bretan, winner of Romanians's Got Talent and finalist in America's Got Talent, is a semi-finalist as well. Other big names include Xonia, originary from Australia and popular pop artist, Trooper, popular heavy metal band, Olivier Kaye, who won the first prize in Romania's Golden Stag Festival in 2018, and Vaida, who was runner up in Selectia Nationala in 2014.


According to the official statement released by TVR, the national jury was composed mainly of radio broadcasters, some of whom are quite popular in the industry and come from the biggest radio stations in Romania, such as Răzvan Popescu (Radio Zu), Oliver Simionescu – DJ Olix (Kiss FM) or Andreea Remețan (Virgin Radio). Liana Stanciu, ex HOD in 2014 and 2015, and Gabriel Scîrlet, musical director for TVR, were also part of it.
