Slovenia | 103 Song Submissions for EMA 2019
As we move even closer to National Final season, RTVSLO have revealed the details of how many song submissions they have received ahead of EMA 2019 - the Slovenian National Final which has been used every year since 2014 to mixed success.

RTVSLO confirmed in a post to their official facebook page that there have been 103 song submissions for EMA (Evrovizijska Melodija) 2019 which will be the selection process used to decide who will be flying the Slovenian flag in Tel Aviv next May.
News about changes to the EMA format were released last month, with confirmation that the semi finals had been dropped from the competition meaning that the National Final will be a one-show event. In previous years, where the outcome was decided by jury and televote for all finalists - the juries will decide a top two which will then go forward to a televote which will ultimately decide the Slovenian representative for Eurovision 2019. Up to ten finalists will be chosen from the song submissions - meaning that judges have a lot of cuts to make! In addition, two-time runners up (2017 and 2018) duo BQL have confirmed that they will not be competing in 2019.
The date for the 2019 national selection show has not yet been revealed however is expected to take place in February.
Earlier this year, Lea Sirk won the competition and went on to take 'Hvala, ne' to Lisbon where she secured a return to the final for Slovenia for the first time in three years - ultimately placing 22nd with 64 points. Andy of #TeamEurovoxx caught up with Lea back in Lisbon and you can check out the interview here:
