Switzerland | Has Luca Hänni Been Selected As Swiss Artist?

December 18, 2018

It has been rumoured that Luca Hänni has been selected as the Swiss artist for Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv.

Luca, 24 has been heavily linked with being the artist to represent Switzerland in Tel Aviv at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest, this is highly believed by many after Luca and the official Swiss Eurovision Twitter account recently followed each other on the social media platform, he also has expressed an interest in representing Switzerland back in 2015, and has been linked to the selection format of Switzerland ever since. Luca was also the Swiss spokesperson for 2017, announcing the points of the Swiss jury in Kyiv.

Luca first shot to fame after competing on the talent show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" in 2012, he went onto to win the show, becoming the first non-German to ever do so, his debut single "Don't Think About Me" went onto top the Swiss, German and Austrian charts as well are achieved gold certification in Switzerland, since the initial success however, he has yet to have another Top 20 single in any of the three nations.

Switzerland received 420 submissions for their entry for Tel Aviv, deciding to select the singer and song internally this year as opposed to the traditional national final, very little has been said about it, SRF did confirm the artist and song would be decided and the concerned parties would be notified by the end of the year, but in recent weeks have announced the song and artist will not be officially revealed until sometime in March.

Would you be excited to see Luca represent Switzerland in Tel Aviv? Could he be the saving grace to get the nation back in to the final?
