Czech Republic | National Final Acts Revealed January 7th

December 9, 2018

It has been announced this morning that the date of the artists being announced that shall compete in Czech Republic's forthcoming selection ESCZ will be announced on January 7th 2019.

Although the format is expected to be run in identical fashion to their selection last year, the songs and artists will be revealed at a press conference held by Ceska Televize, where more details regarding the selection shall be announced also. Last year six artists went against each other in an online selection, which Mikolas Josef won after a jury/televote combination style vote with the song "Lie To Me" Mikolas went to Lisbon and went onto get the nation their best ever placing in the competition finishing sixth in the Grand FInal.

The winner of the selection shall be announced at the end of January, one change which is expected to come into play with the voting, is the public vote will be scaled down from a 50/50 jury/televote split, to the public vote acting as the vote of a jury member, meaning, if the public rate a song first, their voice and opinion can easily be overshadowed if the individual jurors vote differently to that of the public.

What do think of Czech Republic using this format again? Any Czech artists you wish to see compete in the selection? Let us know your thoughts as always below!
