JESC 2019 | Russia has not submitted a bid to host

The Russian delegation has confirmed to escKaz that the Russian broadcaster VGTRK has not submitted a bid to host The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

After Polina Bogusevich stormed to victory in Tbilisi at Junior Eurovision 2017, VGTRK along with Igor Krutoy, composer and producer at the Academy of Popular Music, expressed their desire to host Junior Eurovision and to place a bid for the 2019 contest.

Russia had planned to host the contest in Sochi on the Black Sea, the same place where many events have taken place, including the 2014 Winter Olympics, Russian F1 Grand Prix and The New Wave Music Festival. They had the full backing and support of the governor of Krasnodar Territory (where Sochi is located), Veniamin Kondratiev.

So with Russia now out of the race, it seems like only Armenia and Kazakhstan are interested in submitting a bid. Where would you like to see the contest be held next year? Let us know in the comments below!
