Today's installment comes from Poland who will be represented by Roksana Wegiel.

Who is Roksana Wegiel?

This year Poland will be represented by Roksana Wegiel who will perform her song "Anyone I Want To Be". Roksana who is better known as "Roxie" was born in Jaslo, Poland on the 11th January 2005, and is 13 years old. The talented singer got her big break when she won the first edition of "The Voice Kids Poland" earlier this year. She has released three singles, "Zyj", "I Promise" and "Zatrzymać Chwilę" which she recorded together with Edyta Górniak. She professes to love ballroom dancing, hip-hop, judo, singing and acrobatics. Now, she can add representing Poland to her resume. Of Eurovision she has said, "Representing my country at Eurovision is an actual honour. Dreaming, and figting for your dreams is worthy". The song itself has only been released a week, and it has amassed over 220,000 hits on YouTube. Could this be a good omen for Roksana? Check out "Anyone I Want To Be" below:

How Was Roksana Chosen?

Poland opted for an internal selection to choose Roksana this year. Of their previous entrants this will be the first time that the country has not used a national final. Due to a string of poor results, the broadcaster TVP have decided to change tact, and automatically gave Roksana Wegiel the chance to represent her home nation. Her fame at home, has made her a very popular choice.

Poland At The Junior Eurovision Song Contest

This year will mark Poland's fifth song at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They debuted back in in 2003 with the song, "Coś mnie nosi", unfortunately for the nation, this come last. History was to repeat itself a year later when their entry, "Łap życie" also came last. As a result, the broadcaster, decided to withdraw from the competition. It would be twelve years before the country would participate again, when Olivia Wieczorek sang the song, "Nie zapomnij" which came a respectable 11th.

That year also saw viewing figures top 2.2 million for the contest, which is an impressive feat considering the overall viewing figures for the whole of Europe was 3.9 million. This may have been the reason to prompt the country to participate again last year, which saw their best ever result. Alicja Rega with the song "Mój dom" , came 8th. This year, Poland has sent Roksana. Will her popularity lead to a top five finish, or better still a win? Stay tuned to find out.

All the team at Eurovoxx would like to wish this young, talented singer a big "Powodzenia" in Minsk!!
