MTV EMAs | Did Any Eurovision Alumni Win Big in 2018?
A month ago it was announced that a number of Eurovision and National Final stars had been nominated within their regional categories and following the success of Eurovision alumni last year we had our fingers crossed for another year of success. At the 2017 awards ceremony, France's Amir, Belgium's Loic Nottet & Italy's Ermal Meta all won their respective regional awards and this year there were even more nominations for our favourite Eurovision stars and National Final singers.
Unfortunately it wasn't good news this year at the MTV EMA Awards Ceremony - which was hosted on November 4th 2018 - for our actual Eurovision performers. Nominated for Best Swedish Act, 2018 singer Benjamin Ingrosso (and Melodifestivalen 2017/2018 act Felix Sandman) lost out to the late Avicii, Swiss duo ZiBBZ lost out in Best Swiss Act to Loco Escrito and Nadav Guedj of Israel 2015 was unable to best Noa Kirel to Best Israeli Act.
However - the bad news was not shared for some of the Eurofan community's favourite National Final artists. Fan favourite Annalisa, who recently won the 2018 OGAE Second Chance Contest with her Sanremo third placer 'Il Mondo Prima di Te', also impressed MTV as she followed in Ermal's footsteps, walking away with Best Italian Act. Could she continue to walk in his footsteps and go on to represent Italy at Eurovision in the following year? We would be EXTREMELY keen.

Another fan favourite - Margaret - who was runner-up to Michal Szpak at Poland's 2016 National Final with pop banger 'Cool Me Down' before going on to be a Melodifestivalen 2018 finalist with 'In My Cabana' walked away with Best Polish Act. Furthermore, Diogo Picarra of Festival da Cancao 2018 may have withdrew himself from the song festival but that did not stop him from winning Best Portuguese Act.
