JESC 2018 | Poland Releases 'Anyone I Want To Be'

The wait is finally over for Poland, as their national broadcaster TVP, have just released their Junior Eurovision entry, "Anyone I Want To Be" , sung by Roksana Węgiel. The song which has only just appeared on the official Eurovision channel, has already amassed over 5,000 hits in minutes, and is a very modern sounding song which is sung in both Polish, and English. The video can be viewed below:

It is only Ireland to officially announce their Eurovision entrant, which will come this Sunday when their national final airs. However, Belarusian television leaked the winner yesterday. It has not been confirmed officially by EIRE though.

Roksana's song has a very modern edge, with hints of rock, and pop, and will certainly appeal to the voters both young, and old. It feels like a song that Taylor Swift would possibly produce. There has been much interest in Poland, after she was announced to be their representative.

This year the Polish broadcaster TVP selected internally , and announced their decision to send Roksana at the end of September 2018. Previously, the country has opted to find its singers by national final. However due to a string of poor results, it is believed that Poland had chosen internally, in a hope to reverse its fortunes.

The talented young singer is best known for winning, "The Voice Kids" Poland, and now has the opportunity to do her home nation proud. In an interview she said, “Winning The Voice Kids was an honour and a dream come true, but representing my country at Junior Eurovision is an actual honour. Dreaming and fighting for your dreams is worthy. Thanks for believing in me!”.

It will be a tough year for Poland, as the likes of France, and Kazakhstan have come out as favourites. Also, with a record breaking twenty nations competing, that has seen the return of Azerbaijan, France, and Israel, along with debuts from Kazakhstan, and Wales, it is a year that anyone can win.

What is interesting, despite the poor results, the contest itself is very popular in Poland. In 2016 with viewing figures for Junior Eurovision being at 3.9 million, it was 2.2 million of those that came from Poland. This is Poland's fifth Junior Eurovision entrant, with their best ever result coming last year when Alicja Rega came 8th.

What do you think of the song? Can Roksana make the top five? or even win? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
