It had been previously reported that the Sanremo Giovani has gone through a few slight changes this year, in order help boost, and raise the profile of the young, talented artists in the Italian music industry. The show will be held from December 17th to the 21st.

The top two singers from these shows will ultimately win a spot in the line of Festival di Sanremo that is expected to follow with tradition, and aire in February 2019. The winner of one of Europe's longest music competitions, will then be given an opportunity to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest. However, the winner can decline this. If they do, the honour will then be given to another finalist whom RAI would seek fit to do this job.
