Over in Norway, plans for national selection process Melodi Grand Prix 2019 are well underway. Head of delegation for Norway's participation in Eurovision - Stig Karlsen - has revealed some details about the preparations in the lead up to next years national final.

In an interview with Norwegian paper Dagbladet Karlsen revealed that seven of the ten Melodi Grand Prix 2019 finalists have already been selected and of those, six had been invited directly by broadcaster NRK to participate leaving only a few spaces left for public submissions. Following pop music trends, the line-up will be mainly young and aspiring performers with the songs mainly dance and pop songs with uptempo songs. Could this be following on from the success of 'Toy', 'Fuego' and 'Lie To Me' this year both at the contest and in the charts afterwards?

Melodi Grand Prix 2019 should already be on your calendars as taking place on Saturday March 2nd and Karlsen has also revealed another date that should be in our calendars. In a press conference on January 25th 2019, the artists and their competing songs will all be revealed. This years reveal saw three previous winners announced in Alexander Rybak (1st, 2009), Stella Mwangi (Semi Finalist, 2011) and JOWSTs accompanying vocalist Aleksander Walmann (10th, 2017) with Rybak going on to win Melodi Grand Prix - finishing in 15th at Eurovision 2018. From what Karlsen has revealed about 2019 plans, it looks like we may be seeing less familiar faces and more fresh faces!
