Back in August it was confirmed that 13-year-old Marija Spasovska would be representing the FYR Macedonia at Junior Eurovision 2018. With just over a month until the contest - her entry 'Doma' (Home) has been released. You can listen to the ballad and find out a bit more about representative Marija below!
Marija auditioned on August 18th and a week later it was decided that she was right person for the job. An experienced singer, born on 5th October 2005 in Skopje, has been singing since the age of 4 and has become somewhat of a child prodigy in Macedonia. Not only has she performed at a number of concerts, competitions and events in Macedonia, she has also traveled across Europe and performed at several international children's festivals including in Croatia and Russia. However, her most notable performance was at international children's festival 'Slavyanskiy Bazar' in 2017, located in Belarus meaning she should already know her way around Minsk!
The lyrics talk about Marija wishing for snow and feeling home when everything is covered in the beautiful white - whilst wishing away the rain. The lyrics also read at one point (translated to English) "I have only one prayer, all the children in the world to find their home". Check out the music video to 'Doma' below:
Macedonia have struggled in recent years at Junior Eurovision despite bringing some great songs - it has been over a decade since they broke in to the top 10 with Bobi Andonov's song 'Prati Mi SMS' in 2008. Last year Mina Blazev represented Macedonia in Tbilisi with pop song 'Dancing Through Life' and despite a solid performance only managed 12th place - a position that Macedonia have finished a staggering 7 out of 13 appearances! Hopefully Marija will be able to get Macedonia back to the top of the scoreboard - you can also check out her performance of legendary Eurovision winner 'Euphoria' below.
