Greece's former Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou is back, and has released her brand new single "Kati skotino' which is likely be another major hit, shaking up the musical charts both home in Greece, and abroad. The song which could be described as an ethnic ballad was officially released yesterday.
The song itself has been gaining some major air play on Greek radio stations, as it has been playing there for over a week now. It is only now that the official video has been released on YouTube, and it has been able to download via all the major music platforms such as Spotify, and iTunes. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out below:
In just one day the song has amassed well over one hundred thousand views, testament to the fact that the singer is still very much popular today, as she was in the early 2000's. The video was shot two weeks ago in Athens, and features a guest appearance of Israeli model, Shahar Kaikov. The song is very different to the upbeat tracks, that she has become synonymous with. Instead it is a dark ethnic ballad which indicates that every person has a dark side in life.
The scenes of the music video could almost be described as a scene from Salem, where there is an abundance of candles, and black cloaks. In the song, you can almost hear the anger, and hurt in her voice, as she sings when a relationship goes bad, but can it be saved?. Certainly, this is echoed in the press release that has accompanied the song, which states,
"Every person has a dark side in his life... A relationship can not work when there is 'something dark' between the couple, and so there will forever be the danger of total wear on that bridge that unites their love"
The talented singer first rose to prominence in the European community when she sang "(I would) Die For You" placing joint fourth back in 2001. She would then sing again for Greece four years later with the song "My Number One" that saw her give the Hellenic nation its first ever win. Recently, she has stated her desire to sing again at Eurovision, this amongst being a judge on "the Voice" Greece has seen her become one busy lady.
