Germany | Meet the 2019 Eurovision Workshop Artists (10-12)

October 12, 2018

With news that four of the workshop attending artists did not want to be publicly named, this brings us to the last batch of German workshop artists. This week so far we have taken a look at the careers of nine of the workshop artists and here is the final batch. This time we will be meeting YouTube star Nicole Cross, The Voice of Germany 2017 finalist BB Thomaz and speculation and a sneaky Instagram post suggests that singer-songwriter Paul Weber was also at the workshop.

Make sure to check out part one here.

You can also find part two here.

And part three is also here.

Nicole Cross was born on August 22nd 1993 in Nuremberg, Germany. Fans of YouTube covers on the video uploading platform may be very familiar with Nicole - who has been posting videos of her singing since 2012 - as she has now racked up an incredible 950,000 subscribers with over 160 million views on her videos. Over the years Nicole has collaborated with a number of singers and musicians however Eurovision fans may be most interested in her cover of Calvin Harris & Rihanna track 'This Is What You Came For' which is a collaboration between Nicole and none other than Eurovision 2010 winner for Germany - Lena! Check out the video here. Despite a steady release of original music, in March 2018 Nicole released her first album of pop hits and we are definitely interested to see if Nicole could bring a pop hit to the contest following the success of Toy and Fuego in the global charts. Check out the video to 'Loosen Up' below.

BB Thomaz was born in Dusseldorf in 1984 and is a musical veteran. Having a turbulent childhood, BB left home at the age of 16 to pursue a music career and soon moved to the United States. Her career has covered decades as she received the German Pop/Rock Awards in 2009/2010 and later in 2016. With the R&B sounds of Beyonce and the vocal range of Mariah Carey, BB has released a lot of original music, having previously toured across Europe and also modeled for sports and gaming brands. The star auditioned for the seventh series of 'The Voice of Germany' last year and reached the finals - placing fourth. Her explosive audition of Jessie J's 'Bang Bang' had a very positive reaction, resulting in all four coaches turning for her. A huge fan of fitness, she also has a YouTube channel where she posts dance fitness zumba workout videos. You can check out the teaser trailer to her next single 'How You Want It' below.

Whilst not publicly announced, singer-songwriter Paul Weber has posted on Instagram a photo of him at the Cologne recording studio used for the Eurovision Workshop at the same time that the workshop was going on leading to speculation that he was another of the musical artists invited. The photo posted even looks like the promotional shots released by NDR of the publicly announced performers. Paul is a young musician from Cologne who has been posting his original music on his YouTube channel since 2015. His guitar led music gives indie country-folk vibes and you can check out his most recent single 'Sag Mir Was du Brauchst' below.

So that is it - a quick look at all eleven revealed performers + the speculated Paul. More news will come on which performers have advanced to the next stage of the process - a songwriting camp - in November.

Which of these would you like to see represent Germany next year? Is there anybody you hope are part of the three yet-to-be-revealed lineup? Let us know in the comments below or via our social media on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube.
