Lithuania | Plans for National Selection Revealed


Lithuanian national broadcaster - LRT - have today announced that song submission for their 2019 Eurovision national selection is now open. Last month it was reported that there would be some minor changes made to the format of 2019's national selection process 'Eurovizijos' including that the series will be cut down to only eight shows. LRT have also revealed that the final of next years national selection will take place on Saturday 23rd February.



The submission for songs and performers will run for two months, between now and December 10th. The press release mentions the rules of those hoping to compete in the Lithuanian selection process are as follows:

  • To enter the competition, you - or atleast one member of the group - must be a Lithuanian citizen.

  • The song must not exceed three minutes in length.

  • Any song submitted must be entirely the original work of the performer or author submitting the song.

  • The song must not have been commercially released or publicly performed before September 1st 2018.

All selected songs will be revealed following the submission deadline ahead of the first show on Saturday 5th January.

This year, Ieva ZasimauskaitÄ— represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon with her very moving ballad 'When We're Old', qualifying for the final and then finishing a very respectable 12th position with 181 points.
