Ukraine | UA:PBC Confirms Eurovision Participation For 2019

The national broadcaster for Ukraine UA:PBC, yesterday announced that they will be joining the party in Tel Aviv as they have officially confirmed that they will be participating at next years Eurovision Song Contest.

The confirmation which was reported by Esctoday, comes after they had initially announced soon after the contest that they intended to be present. However, they have only now confirmed this. No further details on how they will select MELOVIN's successor have been given, and it is expected that they will opt for their national final 'Vidbir', and not internally select.

Since it's introduction back in 2016 the national final has proved very successful. In its first year, Jamala won the contest, and both 2017, and 2018 artists have both qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest. In fact, Ukraine, along with Australia are the only two nations that have a 100% success rate for being in the final.

This year the country was represented by MELOVIN. He scored 130 points in total, culminating in a 17th place finish. He was also one of the artists that benefited from the new scoring system. The juries placed him last with only 11 points, whilst the public vote saved him. He scored 119 points from them, which meant he climbed nine places higher in the overall result.

The Eurovoxx team were at the Eurovision in Concert Amsterdam earlier in the year, and managed to interview MELOVIN from the Ukraine. Check it out below:
