United Kingdom | 2018 Eurovision Representative SuRie Performs An Intimate Concert With Special Guest Ari Olafsson

September 17, 2018

After coming 24th place for the United Kingdom in this years Eurovision Song Contest, SuRie has been very busy writing new music, performing in Pride Festivals across the U.K as well as touring across the British Isles.

Most recently though, this Saturday the 15th September 2018, SuRie could be seen again, performing an intimate concert at The Pheasantry in London as part of her ‘Surie Scrapbook Tour’ across England. This was a great opportunity for SuRie to showcase her incredible talent with her own songs ‘Storm’ (the U.K. entry this year) and her new, inspirational song ‘Taking it Over’ as well as many other carefully crafted covers. Some of these included a beautiful rendition of Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin’, ‘You’ve Got the Love’ by Florence and the Machine and ‘Who Do You Think Are’ by the Spice Girls. However, these were not all the songs SuRie had in her extensive repertoire.

The Harlow born singer then sang musical covers such as ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman as well as ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from the motion picture Les Miserables which was delivered with such raw emotions, and power that it simply captivated the audience. Following this SuRie entertained her audience with her own version of Eurovision entries such as ‘Rhythm Inside’ by Loic Nottet (for which she was a backing singer in Vienna 2015), in addition to ‘City Lights’ by Blanche (Belgium’s 2017 Eurovision entry) as well as her own stripped-back version of Netta Barzilai’s winning Eurovision 2018 song ‘Toy’.

This concert of ‘SuRie’s Scrapbook’ also featured a special guest who was none other than Iceland’s 2018 Eurovision Representative ‘Ari Olafsson’ who is now living in London and studying in the Royal Academy of Music. After becoming close friends following the Eurovision Song Contest, it was lovely to see both Ari and SuRie reuniting to sing a duet, and for Ari to showcase his sensational talent by performing a George Michael song.

It would be fair to say that SuRie is an incredible singer who knows how to thrill an audience and we can’t wait to see her progress further in her career.

Eurovoxx interviewed both SuRie and Ari this year.  Please check out the interviews below:
