Spain 2019 | Operación Triunfo Contestants Revealed - who will represent Spain?
Operación Triunfo successfully returned to Spanish screens last year and after the shows popularity, national broadcaster RTVE decided to host a 'Eurovision Gala' where the final five contestants sung a solo, duet and group original song with the performance gaining the most votes winning the right to represent Spain at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Earlier today Toni Sevilla of RTVE confirmed that once again Operación Triunfo would act as the national selection for Spain at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
Now the sixteen contestants competing in this years competition have been revealed - and at least one of them will win the honour of representing Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest next year.

Back in February, Amaia Romero was crowned the winner of season 9 of the singing show which sees aspiring young performers and musicians live in a music academy where they perform live to Spain with the lowest votegetter being evicted weekly. Amaia, alongside Alfred Garcia, won the Eurovision Gala with their heartfelt duet 'Tu Canción'. Whilst the song saw major success in Spain, being certified Platinum following its release, unfortunately Eurovision audiences did not take to the performance with Spain finishing 23rd in the contest with 61 points.
It is expected that the show will run until December which means it is likely that Spain will be the first country to declare their song for Eurovision 2019. We can't wait to hear from the 16 contestants and make sure to check out the first episode airing on the 19th September 2018.
