Spain 2019 | Operación Triunfo will be used as Spanish national final

It's official! Operación Triunfo will serve as the Spanish national final for Eurovision once again!

Earlier today, the Content Manager for RTVE, Toni Sevilla, revealed that once again, Spain would be using Operación Triunfo to select their act for Eurovision 2019.

As we previously wrote, Operación Triunfo 2018 is just around the corner! Check out our article here if you haven't already seen it!

On September 19th 2018, we will meet the 16 contestants who will attend the Operación Triunfo academy to not only try and secure the title of 0T2018 winner, but also to secure the ticket to Tel Aviv. The potential Eurovision songs will be written throughout the duration of the show by both the teachers and the production team.

Last year, Alfred and Amaia won the Operación Triunfo Eurovision Gala with "Tu canción", with Aitana's song "Arde" and "Lo Malo" by Aitana and Ana Guerra finishing in second and third place respectively. Despite not winning the show, Lo Malo proved to be very popular, with the official video reaching over 65 million on YouTube.

At Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, Alfred and Amaia performed in second place in the Grand Final and finished the night in 23rd place with 61 points.
