Eurovision Young Musicians 2018: Finalists Revealed

August 20, 2018

This week marks the nineteenth edition of the Eurovision Young Musicians contest, hosted in Edinburgh. Over the weekend eighteen young musicians from all across Europe represented their country by performing in one of six semi finals - in a bid to advance to the grand final on Thursday 23rd August 2018. We heard an eclectic range of sounds and performances, from violins to saxophones and guitars to the harp. The juries have voted and the confirmed finalists, in alphabetical country order, are:

  • Indi Stivín (Czech Republic)

  • Mira Foron (Germany)

  • Máté Bencze (Hungary)

  • Birgitta Elisa Oftestad (Norway)

  • Ivan Bessonov (Russia)

  • Nikola Pajanović (Slovenia)

In the semi finals, the musicians had to present an eighteen-minute-or-less recital either solo or with a piano accompaniment. The juries then scored each act on technical accuracy, quality of sound, interpretation and the performance before announcing the six above musicians as the finalists ahead of Thursday's finale. You can view a recap of all the semi final performances below:

The final, presented by Petroc Trelawny and Josie d'Arby, will be streamed live on YouTube allowing global audiences to view the performances and final results so make sure to check it out.
