UMK19 will include invited participant only
We have the first news of the Finnish national selection UMK 2019 (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu). Last year the broadcaster surprised everyone in November with the news of an internally chosen artist, so Saara sang 3 songs in the final in March. This change of the competition was considered a success, with 1,4 million Finnish viewers and Finland made it to the final of the Eurovision song contest after 3 years of absence.
The thought is to with one artist, get more work into the performances as whole packages, and other content for the UMK final.
Any further details about the next edition of UMK have not been released yet. If there will be one or more invited artists is unconfirmed. When UMK was introduced to the public in 2012, the idea was that anyone could apply with a song.
Now this might give us an idea of the show next year, yet some changes compared to last year are possible. As the number of artists is still not known, we could be talking about a duet or a collaboration of some kind. We want to know what you think about this news.
