Wales To Debut At The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018



Yesterday. it got very exciting for the United Kingdom, in particular Wales who made a surprise announcement that they would be present in Belarus for this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest.


The national broadcaster for Wales, S4C in a press release stated that they, "search for young stars to sing for Wales in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest", and that it would be a, "life changing opportunity to perform in an audience of millions across Europe".


Today the broadcaster along with Ronodo Media have launched their 'Search for a Star' or "Chywilio Am Seren". Applicants must fill out an application form here. The closing date for submissions is at 10.00 Sunday night on the 3rd June 2018. Click this link on how to apply.


This years Junior Eurovision will be shown on S4C on Sunday 25th November. The channel will hold a national final that will comprise of three programmes that will show how Wales have chosen their next star.


The show will be presented by Trystan Ellis-Morris, who will be joined by experienced performers Connie Fisher, Tara Bethan and Stifyn Parri who will mentor the young singer.

Elen Rhys who is the Entertainment Contest Commissioner for S4C says, "I can't help but get excited when I think about the opportunity available for our youngsters to represent Wales at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest".


The official announcement by the national broadcaster today, will be a delight to many fans of the Junior Eurovision in the United Kingdom. As the UK have only held three appearances, with 2005 being their last, it has somewhat left a void in the schedule. The news that Wales will now be present will give fans someone to cheer for.


This is not Wales' first dabble in Eurovision, as there have been several artist over the years who have participated. The last being Lucie Jones last year, when she competed, coming a respectable 15th place. Last year Wales also debuted at the Eurovision Choir of the year that was held in Latvia, and came second. Could Wales win the competition?
