Number 6 | A countdown of Portugal's best at Eurovision

In celebration of Portugal hosting their first ever Eurovision, we have been counting down Eurovoxx's all time favourite entries from Portugal at Eurovision. Taking the number 6 spot is the entry from 1996, Lúcia Moniz with "O meu coração não tem cor".
Lúcia Moniz was born into a musical family and attended music school. She was relatively unknown to the public however when she took part in Festival da Canção 1996 with "O meu coração não tem cor" (My heart has no colour), a song composed by Pedro Osório and with lyrics by José Fanha. Lúcia unexpectedly won the contest, finishing 4 points ahead of the second place song.
In 1996, the EBU used a non-televised pre-qualifying round in order to shorten the amount of countries taking part at Eurovision that year. In this pre-qualifying round, Lúcia Moniz placed 18th for Portugal. Finishing in the top 22 was the requirement to go to the contest in Oslo, therefore Lúcia Moniz went on to perform "O meu coração não tem cor" at Eurovision.
Performing fourth on the night, Portugal received douze points from both the Cypriot and Norwegian juries. A total score of 92 put Portugal in 6th place. This was Portugal's highest ever placing at Eurovision and it remained so until their win in 2017.
After Eurovision, Lúcia began acting in Portuguese soup operas and television series'. She also did the Portuguese dubbing for several animated films. In 2003, Lúcia gained international fame when she acted opposite Colin Firth in the film Love Actually.
In 1999, she released her first pop album, "Magnolia". She would go on to release 4 more albums and several collaborations with other artists. In 2004, Lúcia had a daughter, Julia. Most recently, Lúcia has been working in the theatre and acting in the soap opera, Solteira e Boa Raparia.
