Number 9 | A countdown of Portugal's best at Eurovision

Continuing Eurovoxx's countdown of our all-time favourite entries from Portugal, we will take a look at the entry we placed 9th. It's the 2014 entry, Suzy with "Quero Ser Tua".
Singing since she was 5 years old, Suzy first rose to prominence in 1999 with the release of Christmas song "Nesta Noite Bran". Which she sang together with Anjos. It became a hit in Portugal and is still played today at Christmas time.
In 2002, Suzy released her first solo album. In the following years she began to perform in musicals including 'My Fair Lady' and 'Alice e a Magia do Natal'. In 2010, Suzy released the song "Candyland" and performed the song all over Portugal.
After briefly living in Dubai, Suzy returned to Portugal to perform in Festival da Canção when she was invited by songwriter Emmanuel to sing his song "Quero Ser Tua". The song title translates as "I Want To Be Yours". At her Meet & Greet in Copenhagen, Suzy said about the song:
"I think its a very energetic and positive music that is gonna make everyone dance and put a smile on their faces".
Suzy won Festival da Canção with 42% of the televote. After the results, the second and third place contestants Catarina Pereira and Rui Andrade rose suspicion about the results, suggesting Emmanuel had spent money on automatic calls in order to the rig the contest, however nothing came out of these accusations and Suzy went to Copenhagen.
At Eurovision, Suzy performed in the first semi final. She received 8 points, her highest set of points, from Spain, gaining a total of 39 points. She placed in 11th, failing to qualify by just one point.
After Eurovision, Suzy continues to be a part of the Eurovision family by taking part in Eurovision events and pre parties all over Europe.
