Meet MELOVIN From Ukraine


This year 43 countries will be present at this years Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon in May. With around two weeks to go until all of Europe descends on Portugal's capital. Eurovoxx will introduce you to each country that will be participating.


Who Is He?


Kostyantyn Mykolayovych Bocharov , best known as Mélovin, is a Ukrainian singer and songwriter. At a young age he started to perform at concerts in his school. Later he attended and graduated from music and theatre school. He had participated on three occasions for the auditions of X Factor Ukraine, but has never taken part in the live televised part of the show. In 2015 he finally passed the audition stage an won the competition. In 2016, he released his debut single "Ne odinokaya". On the 17th January 2017 Melovin took part in the Ukrainian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, with the song "Wonder". The final was held on 25 February 2017 and Bocharov finished at third place. Later in the same year he released his first EP "Face To Face" and the songs "Unbroken" and "Hooligan".

How Was He chosen?


After his participation in Ukrainian National Final in 2016 Melovin confirmed his return to "Vidbir" on 16 January 2018. He has competed with the song "Under The Ladder". He took part in the second semi-final, which was held on 17 February 2018. He qualified for the final as one of the favorites acts. He won the final and 24 February, taking him on to represent his country in Lisbon in May 2018.

Ukraine At Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine debuted at the contest in 2003. Since then the country has participated 14 times, missing the contest in 2015 in Austria. Ukraine has won the contest two times, in 2004 with Ruslana and her song "Wild Dances" and in 2016 with Jamala and her song "1944". The country has a 100% qualifying record for the Grand Final. Ukraine has finished six times in the top 5 at the contest. Their worst result came in 2017, where rock band O.Torvald finished 24th. Ukraine has never finished last and has never received nul points.
