How Was Ieva Zasimauskaitė Chosen?

This year Lithuania had possibly one of the largest national finals that consisted off 6 initial heats, two semi finals and a grand final that was held on 11th March 2018. The show named Eurovizijos dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka saw half the artists eliminated in each heat. The two semi finals consisted of 7 artists, but only three would qualify from each.

Ieva Zasimauskaitė performed in the first heat and just won it, receiving most votes from the televote and the public. The grand final followed the same order, that saw the result split 50% to the viewing public, and the other 50% to the juries. With the juries she came second and gained ten points. However, the public voted her their favourite, meaning she was 3 points clear of her nearest rival. Her song "When We're Old" is a charming, and popular song.

Lithuania At Eurovision

Lithuania first participated at the contest in 1994, and to date have appeared at 18 contests. Their debut participation did not go to plan as their entry came last with 0 points. This may have been a reason as to why the nation did not appear again until 1999.

Their best result to date was in 2006 when LT United encouraged Europe's voters into giving them 6th place. However, since 2004 they have qualified for the grand final a total of 8 times which is a respectable feat. Could Ieva with her charming song break into the top 5 this year?
