This year 43 countries will be present at this years Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon in May. With around two weeks to go until all of Europe descends on Portugal's capital, Eurovoxx will introduce you to each country that will be participating.
Who is He?
Cesár Sampson was born on 18th August 1983 in Linz, Austria. He is an Austrian singer, songwriter and model. He worked as a social worker for many years. Cesár isn’t unknown in Austria's music scene. At the age of seventeen he started touring the world as lead singer for some of Austria’s most popular alternative music artists - Kruder & Dorfmeister, Sofa Surfers and Louie Austen. After that he moved behind the scenes of the music business as a songwriter, lyricist and vocal producer. He also has performed as the lead singer for the groups Sympohnix International and Electric Chruch, as well as being a singer on the Austrian adaption of Dancing With The Stars.

How was he chosen.
Cesar is not new a face at Eurovision. He has performed on the Eurovision stage for the past two contests. Cesàr has spent the last two years performing as a backing singer before being able to shine as a frontman. He featured on both of Bulgaria's entries in 2016, with Poli Genova's "If Love Was A Crime" and Kristian Kostov's "Beautiful Mess".
On 5th of December, the Austrian broadcaster ORF announced during its morning show Guten Morgen Österreich that the 34 - years old Ćesar Sampson will represent Austria in Lisbon.

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957. It has participated 50 times since their debut, missing 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1998, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The country has won twice, in 1966, with Udo Jurgens and the song "Merci Chérie", and in 2014, with Conchita Wurst and the song "Rise Like a Phoenix". Austria has finished 6 times in the top 5. The country finished last in 1957, 1961, 1962, 1979, 1984, 1988, 1991, and in the semi-final in 2012. Austria has received null points a total of five times in 1962, 1988, 1991, 2015 and from televoting in 2016.
