Meet Laura Groeseneken (Sennek) From Belgium

This year 43 countries will be present at this years Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon in May. With around two weeks to go until all of Europe descends on Portugal's capital. Eurovoxx will introduce you to each country that will be participating.
Who Is She?
This year Belgium was the first nation to announce its artist. On the 28th September 2017 the Belgian broadcaster announced that Laura Groeseneken would be the next singer to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The artist also known as Sennek is a relatively newcomer when it comes to the music scene in Belgium. She is a singer and song writer who is known as being quite an eclectic singer. However, her musical style tends to favour the more electronic, pop and soul genre type of music. Up until Eurovision she was best known as the keyboardist for the musician Ozark Henry. She is also a talented songwriter having penned tracks for the Belgian group Hooverphonic.
Outside of singing her daytime job is working for the well known Swedish store Ikea as a visual merchandiser. Will her flare for this, help her style her performance?
Sennek will sing the song, "A Matter Of Time" at the contest. When released this charted at position 19 in the Belgian charts.

The artist was the first to be announced on the 28th September 2017. This was done by the talk show 'Van Gils & gasten' where she performed Portugal's winning Eurovision entry.
The song was officially released on the 6th March 2018, despite being leaked online two days previous.

Belgium At Eurovision
Belgium are one of the originals at Eurovision, having appeared at the very first contest back in 1956 with six other nations. They have appeared a grand total of 59 occasions and have only ever won the competition once. This was back in 1986 where a very young Sandra Kim won with, "J'aime La Vie". The country have only placed top 5 on a handful of occasions, and failed to qualify for the grand final of Eurovision for five consecutive years between 2005 and 2009, along with a handful of occasions since. However, in recent years, Belgium have excelled in the contest Since 2015 they have had three consecutive top 10 finishes, with two of the culminating in a top 5 placing. Can Laura do one better this year?
