Meet Eugent Bushpepa from Albania

This year 43 countries will be present at this years Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon in May. With around two weeks to go until all of Europe descends on Portugal's capital. Eurovoxx will introduce you to each country that will be participating.
Who Is He?
Eugent Bushpepa also known by the alternative name Gent Bushpepa, and is an Albanian rock singer, songwriter. He is well regarded in his field, and is one of the most popular modern rock musicians in Albania and Kosovo, he is a very talented singer with a wide vocal ability. He has impressed many with his ability to hit the high notes. This was evident during one of his first live international performances of "Mall" when he impressed many at the Eurovision in Concert Amsterdam. He is also a talented and keen guitarist. Bushpepa's professional career began in 2006, where his musical breakthrough came with the song ”Maska e Madhështisë”. He has played in major music festivals which has included being the supporting act for Duff McKagan on their Loaded band tour on 1 June 2011 in Tirana. . Bushpepa's talents have been recognised where he received a number of awards. Some of these incluse: Best Male Singer in 2008 and 2011; the Vodafone Club Award in 2009, the Honorific Award in 2015. Most recently he won Festivali i Këngës in 2017, which is a great honour as this competition is somewhat an institution in itself.

How Was He chosen?
Eugent was chosen through National Selection - Festivali i Këngës 56. He has competed with his rock song "Mall". He took part in first semifinal and qualified for the final. The final took place on 23 December 2017. Eugent Bushpepa went on to win the final, taking him on to represent his country in Lisbon in May 2018.

Albania at Eurovision Song Contest
Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since its debut in 2004. The Albanian broadcaster, Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH), has been the organiser of the Albanian Eurovision entry since the country's debut in the contest and has used the long-standing Albanian song contest, Festivali i Këngës, to select the Albanian Eurovision entry. Albania has so far managed to qualify for the final seven times: in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini, in 2005 with Ledina Çelo, in 2008 with Olta Boka, in 2009 with Kejsi Tola, in 2010 with Juliana Pasha, in 2012 with Rona Nishliu and in 2015 with Elhaida Dani. The best result of Albania is in 2012 where Rona Nishliu finished fiveth with the song "Suus".
