Lea Sirk Will Represent Slovenia With The Song Hvala, Ne! At Eurovision 2018


Tonight, the grand final of Slovenia's EMA took place which decided that Lea Sirk with the song Hvala, Ne! will be Slovenia's next Eurovision entrant at Lisbon this May. Slovenia opted for it's traditional EMA national final, last week held it's only semi to whittled down sixteen songs, to tonight's eight. Lea Sirk prevailed and won EMA 2018.

The songs that competed tonight were:

Lea Sirk – Hvala, ne!

Indigo – Vesna

INA SHAI – Glow

BQL – Promise

Marina Martensson – Blizu

Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu

Proper – Ukraden cvet

Nuška Drašček – Ne zapusti me zdaj

EMA which was in it's twenty second year, saw the show being broadcast live from its RTVSLO studio 1 in Ljubljana. Lea won when the public and regional juries who held an equal share of 50% of the vote decided that they should be Slovenia's next Eurovision entry.

The results of tonight show, means that she won the vote by only 10 points. Lea scored 116 points, whilst the runner up BQL, was a close second scoring 106.

Lea Sirk is 28 years old, and has had a varied career in the music industry. She has had several singles, and produced one album back in 2014 called Roža. This isn't her first attempt at EMA, Lea has tried on three previous occasions, with tonight being 4th time lucky.

Tonight, Slovenia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia and Hungary have decided their Eurovision entrants. So far, this makes 16 competing nations. With only several weeks until the official deadline we nearly have all 43 songs for the Eurovision Song Contest.
