Tonight, Moldova's 'O Melodie Pentru Europa 2018' came to an end, and after a fantastic national final it was decided that DoReDos will represent Moldova with the song My Lucky Day at the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon this may,
The final which was shown by broadcaster TRM was held in the nations capital Chişinău. Only 28 entries were submitted to the national broadcaster at the start of the year. The programme was also different from in previous years, as they held a live open audition, that saw 16 artists progress to tonight's final. Unlike last year, there was no semi final, with the winner being chosen from this evening's show only. DeRoDos won the right to represent Moldova, however, the sixteen competing acts were as follows:
Tolik – Broken Glass
Lavina Rusu – Altundeva
Bella Luna – Moments
Anna Timofei – Endlessly
Ilia Soroceanu & Dasha DaGro – Minds & Veins
Che MD – Inima-n stângă
Cobîlean Constantin – Numai tu
DoReDos – My lucky day
SandyC & Aaron Sibley – Once upon a time
Anna Odobescu – Agnony
Nicoleta Sava – Esencia del Sur
Doinița Gherman – Dance in flames
Felicica Dunaf – Alien
Viorela – The gates of love
Vera Țurcanu – Black Heart
Ruslan Tsar – Come to life
DeRoDos were chosen to represent Moldova by the general public, but also a jury of musical professionals who judged each performer.
DeRoDos are quite popular in their native Moldova. They have been around since 2011, and released three albums back in 2015, 2016 and this year. They once tried to represent Moldova in 2015 but were unsuccessful. 2018 seem to be their lucky year.
The results were as follows:
