Sweden | Melodifestivalen Entry Chart Success Despite Elimination For Dotter
She was tipped as a front runner not only for her heat, but the entire competition in this years Melodifestivalen and represent Sweden in Lisbon, armed with a song she co-wrote alongside Linnea Deb and Thomas G:Son, Johanna Jansson, better known by her stage name "Dotter" (Swedish for daughter) was set to set alight Malmö Arena and Sweden in the third heat of Melodifestivalen, however things did not pan out that way and she was eliminated in the first round of voting, finishing sixth out of seven.

Despite leaving the competition her sing "Cry" has been well received in Sweden and enjoying some success in the iTunes and Spotify charts as a result. Since the song was made available to download and listen to after the broadcast Saturday night, her song has climbed up the Swedish iTunes chart and is currently sitting and moving from 2nd and 3rd, with Andra Chansen qualifier Mendez in top spot, Cry also reached number 35 on the Swedish Spotify charts and number four on the Swedish Viral Spotify top 50, with 171 thousand listens in the last three days on Spotify alone, this already passes the Spotify plays on her single prior to "Cry" titled "Rebelion" she released in November 2017 and is just eight thousand shy of her next song "Creatures Of The Sun". Her live perofmance has also been viewed 71 thousand times on the official Melodifestivalen YouTube page, the second highest of the five acts who did not go direct from her heat.
Dotter was no stranger to the contest, having co-wrote "A Million Years" which sung by Mariette, placed fourth in the contest last year, despite the disappointment and shock of her elimination, Dotter seems to have remained humble and thankful for the support and experience the contest has given her, however she has not stated any intent to return as of yet.
