Emmelie de Forest is back with a new album!

Emmelie de Forest is back with a new album ... and a new look! The 2013 Eurovision winner released her new album, History, on February 9th. This is only the second album she has released since her debut album, Only Teardrops in 2013.

In 2015, Emmelie de Forest left her record label, Universal Music Group (UMG) to work on a different sound and different genre of music. Late that year, she released an EP entitled Sanctuary with 6 songs to show off her new sound.

Emmelie's new album, History, has been released thanks to a crowfunding campaign that Emmelie organised herself. Through her crowfunding campaign, she managed to get 150 per cent of the money she needed for the production of the album. The style of songs on her new album is very different to that of her Eurovision song, and this is what she had to say about it:

"I'm so proud having made this album that I've worked on for so long. I wrote some songs, like "Any Less" and "Rabbit", as early as 2015 and I feel as if I've had enough time to be able to experiment and decide which songs, out of quite many, to end up on this album. I could determine everything by myself, the length, production, artwork, video - I could be in full control of it all.

On the very first record, everything went so fast and there was no time for me to consider what kind of artists I wanted to be or how I wanted my debut album to sound like. But I've had plenty of time this time and I'm convinced people are going to notice."

Her album consists of 7 songs, all in English. In November 2017, Emmelie teased her fans with the song Sanctuary, ahead of her album release in February. The album is available to download and purchase on Spotify and iTunes.

Emmelie de Forest rose to fame not only in Denmark, but across Europe, when she won the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmo with her song "Only Teardrops", bringing the contest to Denmark for a third time. At only 20 years old, she was one of the youngest Eurovision winners. Her song became a hit across Europe, and subsequently released an album of the same name.

In 2014, she was back with a new single, "Raindrops", which was the official song for Eurovision 2014 in Copenhagen. She performed the song live at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 grand final alongside the finalists of that years contest, and also performed her winning song.
