It's Official! Eleni Foureira for Cyprus 2018!

After much speculation over the last few days over who will sing for the sunny Mediterranean island in Lisbon, rumours went wild with many predicting that Greek superstar Eleni Foureira would be the Cypriot choice for Eurovision 2018.
Those rumours turned more credible on January 25th with Greek website "Alter-Info" publishing the news that Eleni Foureira would represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest with her already-racey sounding song "Fuego".
Eleni Foureira's name has long been circulating throughout the Eurovision community with many fans hoping that one day she would find her way to the Eurovision stage. It isn't as though she hasn't been trying as Eleni Foureira has voiced her desire to perform in front of millions of Europeans, even submitting songs to the Hellenic Broadcasting Coorporation in 2016 and 2017 but ultimately to no avail. Nevertheless, Eurofans will finally get to see Eleni, albeit for Cyprus instead of Greece.
Today, that news has come true as the national broadcaster for Cyprus CyBC has confirmed that she will be the countries next Eurovision act. Many fans will be delighted to see her on stage, the combination of her up-tempo style, intertwined with the writing skills of the world famous Alex P could give Cyprus its first ever victory at the contest.
It has also been confirmed today that the talented performer will be singing the song "Fuego" in Lisbon. It is expected that the entry will be up-tempo, catchy and dazzling to the eye. The song will be released in early March.
CyBC have also released other details in the past few months. The artistic director for the song will be Sacha Jean-Baptiste who is no stranger to the contest, having been behind several other previous entries. Also, Alex Papaconstatinou will pen the entry. He too has worked with other Eurovision entries, and worked with world famous super stars. Could the combination of all these musical factors give Cyprus their first ever victory?
Eleni Foureira has won multitudes of awards in her music career and has released countless music videos across a plethora of albums solidifying her credentials as a fantastic opportunity for Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest. The star is famous in both Greece, and Cyprus so that honourable tradition of exchanging "douze point" will be more likely than ever this year.
