Slovenia | EMA will begin February 17th


Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO have today revealed details of EMA 2018. EMA has been used to select Slovenia's act for Eurovision since their debut in 1993 (except for 2012 and 2013).


EMA 2018 will consist of one semi final, taking place on February 17th, and a grand final, taking place on February 24th. Both the semi final and grand final will be hosted by Vid Valič, a Slovenian comedian, actor and television host.


A total of 16 countries will be taking part in EMA. All of these 16 acts will be performing in the semi final, with 8 of them advancing to the final. The qualifiers will be decided by a mix of tele vote and jury vote, with the public and the jury each choosing 4 songs to advance to the final.


RTVSLO have stated that all songs in the semi final must be performed in Slovene, whilst in the grand final, they can be performed in any language.


The 16 participating acts and songs:

  1. Anabel - "Pozitiva"

  2. BQL - "Ptica"

  3. Grefor Ravnik - Zdaj je čas"

  4. Ina Shai - "V Nebo"

  5. Indigo - "Vesna"

  6. KiNG FOO - "Žive Sanje"

  7. Lara Kadis - "Zdaj Sem Tu"

  8. Lea Sirk - "Cirque"

  9. ManuElla - "Dan Potem"

  10. Marina Martensson - "Blizu"

  11. MILA -"Svoboda"

  12. Nika Zoejan - "Uspavanka"

  13. Nuška Drašček - "Ne Zapusti Me Zdaj"

  14. Orter - "Tisoč Let"

  15. Proper - "Ukraden Svet"

  16. Tanja Ribič - "Ljudje"

All of these songs will available to listen to between February 5th - February 8th on Radio Val 202, a popular state-owned Slovenian radio station.
