Norway | NRK confirms Eurovision 2019 participation


Norwegian broadcaster NRK have today confirmed their participation in The Eurovision Song Contest 2019, making them the first country to do so. They have also opened up submisions for Melodi Gran Prix (MGP) 2019, and have released their rules and regulations, which you can read here:

Any composers and artists wishing to submit an entry to MGP 2019 can also do so via the link above. They have until September 9th 2018 in which to submit their songs. NRK have said that composers of any nationality are invited to submit an entry to MGP.

NRK will chose their songs for MGP 2019 from songs that have been submitted by the public call and from songs that have been submitted from composers and artists that have been invited to do so by NRK.

 

Eurovision 2019 will be the 58th participation of Norway in The Eurovision Song Contest since their debut in 1960.

Norway holds the record for most number of last place finishes - 11, with three of those places failing to score any points.

Norway has won the contest on three ocassions - in 1985 with Bobbysocks and "La Det Swinge", 1995 with Secret Garden and "Nocturne" and most recently in 2009 with Alexander Rybak and his song "Fairytale" which has since become of the most successful Eurovision songs of all time!
