JESC 2018 | Jon Ola Sand visits Minsk

Executive Supervisor of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Jon Ola Sand, is in Belarus to see how preparations are coming along for The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, due to take place in November.

Jon Ola Sand is in Minsk, Belarus' capital, where he will hold a number of meetings regarding Junior Eurovision 2018. Yesterday, Jon met with Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister, Vasily Zharko, and, following on from this meeting, he went to visit the Minsk Arena which hosted Junior Eurovision 2010 and which is widely speculated to be the venue for this years contest. During his visit, he praised the venue for it's suitability and capability to host such an event.

Deputy Chairman of Belteleradio Company, Ivan Eismont, had this to say:

"We looked at the auxiliary rooms and rooms for the press. Our European guests were favorably impressed. Minsk Arena is a perfect place for such an event. In Georgia, if I am not mistaken, just over 2,000 spectators attended the Junior Eurovision Grand Final. Minsk Arena definitely has a much bigger capacity."

The EBU and Belarussian broadcaster, BTRC, are still in talks with regards to the financial cost of hosting Junior Eurovision, as well as date for the grand final. But it looks like Belarus are taking this very seriously and are very committed to bring you the best show they can!
