Kristian Kostov bags himself yet another award at the annual EBBA Awards. The winners of the 2018 European Border Breakers Awards were honoured in the Dutch city of Goningen this evening. Kostov took the 'Public Choice Award', the award won, previously won in 2017 by worldwide sensation Dua Lipa, who has since gone on to release her own debut album, winning 6 awards (excluding the 3 she won at the Eurosonic Noorderslang last year at the EBBA Awards). Kristian takes over an award from an artist who he deeply admires as a musician.
This is a massive achievement for him, following his success follow X Factor Bulgaria and The Voice Russia, as well as Eurovision 2017 in Kiyv, Ukraine, where he finished 2nd place on Bulgaria's behalf, best result ever. Other notable Eurovision 2017 contetants who won EBBA awards tonight include Portugal's Salvador Sobral, who won the contest, and Belgium's Blanche. However, Kostov stole the spotlight this evening as he wins the Public Choice Award.
The show featured performances from Kristian and Blanche, as well as other winners such as Alice Merton, Alma, Off Bloom, Sigrid, Skott and Youngr. Salvador Sobral, however, was unable to attend the show due to his health, as he is still recovering from his recent operation. His manager accepted the award on his behalf.
Kostov took to his social media to thank his fans for voting for him and showing his appreciation, "So.. WE WON! #TeamKris , those awards are your awards! @ebba_awards"
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am speechless! #TeamKris is the best! @ebba_awards @europe_creative @EBU_HQ"
