Cyprus | Helena Paparizou says no to Eurovision!

Helena Paparizou has today turned down the offer made by Cypriot Broadcaster, RIK to be their representative at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon.
INFE Greece, a Greek Eurovision Fan Club, has announced that Helena Paparizou declined the opportunity to take part in Eurovision 2018 for Cyprus. The head of Cypriot Broadcaster RIK and songwritter Alex Papaconstantinou have previously travelled to Athens in the last few days to meet with Helena and her record label. It is believed that this meeting took place at Greek Broadcaster ERT's headquarters. However, Helena ultimatley said no, not wanting to go to Eurovision for a third time. RIK are now continuing on with their search for their next participant for Eurovision 2018.
In September 2017, it was announced that Alex Papaconstantinou would be the composer for the Cypriot entry. Alex is no stranger to Eurovision; he has has involvement with previous Eurovision songs 'Yassou Maria' by Sarbel (Greece 2007) and 'La La Love' by Ivi Adamou (Cyprus 2012).
