Get to know the hosts for Eurovision 2018!


Lisbon is certainly going to make history, by announcing today that the contest will be hosted by four female presenters in Eurovision. Filomena Cautela, Sílvia Alberto, Daniela Ruah and Catarina Furtado will all share hosting duties in May!

Get to know the hosts!

Daniela Ruah

Ruah was born in Boston, MA on 2nd December 1983. When Ruah was 5, the family moved back to Portugal, where she attended an English-language school and, at 16, began acting in telenovelas. She was the winner of the celebrity dancing competition Dança Comigo, the Portuguese version of Dancing with the Stars, and got main roles in television series, short films, and theatre. In 2007, she moved to New York to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.In 2011, she portrayed the character in a crossover guest appearance on the series Hawaii Five-0. Daniela currently stars as Special Agent Kensi Blye on CBS’s hit show NCIS: Los Angeles, which attracts a weekly average of 11 million viewers. Besides her work as an actress, Daniela presented an award at People Choice Awards in 2012 and co-hosted the Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials on CBS in 2016.

Sílvia Alberto

Sílvia Alberto was born in Lisbon on 18th May 1981. She began her television career in 2000 as Disney Club presenter on RTP1 , followed by Club of Europe at RTP2 in 2001. Moving over to a private channel, SIC, she popularized herself as presenter of the musical contest Ídolos. Still in SIC, she presented the 2004 and 2005 editions of Globos de Ouro (Golden Globes) gala. Sílvia went back to RTP in 2006 to host several talent shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, Masterchef, Top Chef and Portugal’s Got Talent. In 2008 she made her debut as a Festival da Canção host and has been presenting it ever since. She was also the RTP Eurovision Song Contest commentator in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Filomena Cautela

Filomena Cautela was born in Lisbon on 16th December 1984. She started her acting career in the theatre in the year 2000. In 2004 she made her debut in the cinema with Widow Rich Solteira Não Fica and in 2005 she was cast as a presenter by MTV Portugal. Ahe participated in short films like Night Shop and The Destiny of Mr. Sousa. In 2005 she was cast as a presenter by MTV Portugal. On television, she participated in Bocage, Mundo Meu, Revenge, Tell Me How It Was or Cidade Nude, among many others. In 2017, she was the spokeswoman for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 where she revealed the votes of Portuguese national jury.

Catarina Furtado

Catarina Furtado was born in Lisbon, on 25th August 1972. Throughout her career on television which started in the early 1990s, she has worked for SIC and RTP television networks, as well as the radio stations Rádio Comercial and RDP Antena 3. Catarina's first big success was as a presenter on the TV show Top + on RTP, a Portuguese program featuring popular music videos and the national weekly record chart. She went on to do a variety of shows, including Treasure Hunt (Caça ao Tesouro), on SIC television. Catarina has been a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador since 2000 and in 2012 founded the NGO Corações Com Coroa (Hearts With Crown) to create awareness about women’s rights and female empowerment. In 2015 she published a book about all the experiences that she lived through with her professional and voluntary work: O que vejo e não esqueço (What I see and don't forget). In 2013 Catarina won the Woman of the Year award by GQ magazine and in 2016 the E! Entertainment Career Award.
