Polina Bogusevich Wins Junior Eurovision 2017 For Russia

Russia have won the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Wings" performed by Polina Bogusevich.


In a tense and exciting voting in final, held in the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia, Russia managed to squeeze current leaders and eventually runners up Georgia by just three points to win the title, with a grand total of 188 points, host act Grigol Kipshidze placed 2nd of 185 points with Australia rounding out the top three with 172 points.




This is Russia's second victory for Russia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with their first and only other win coming back in 2006 with the Tolmachevy Sisters, who of course went on to represent Russia at Eurovision in 2014 in Copenhagen  


Polina who performed 13th on the night gave a very passionate and emotional performance of her entry, which involved five back dancers, she was also the artist and song to be confirmed for Tbilisi 2017, winning her national final of 21 songs back in June, Polina has previously featured also on The Voice Kids where she was coached by another Eurovision winner Dima Bilan.


The final result of the Junior Eurovision Grand Final are as follows:

Australia - 172 Points


The Netherlands - 156 Points


Belarus - 149 Points


Armenia - 148 Points


Ukraine - 147 Points


Poland - 138 Points


Malta - 107 Points


Serbia - 92 Points


Italy - 86 Points


F.Y.R. Macedonia - 69 Points


Albania - 67 Points


Portugal - 54 Points


Ireland - 54 Points


Cyprus - 45 Points



Despite Russia walking away with the bragging rights and winners trophy, they however failed to top either of the jury or online vote which was used to determine this years winner. The host country Georgia won the jury vote, with an impressive 143 points, 21 more than second place Russia, but Georgia fell heavily in the online vote, only placing 12th with 42 points, with the online vote effectively eliminating the prospect of a back to back victories for Georgia, Russia walk away with it, despite only finishing sixth in the online vote with 66 points. The winner of the online vote was The Nehterlands with 112 points.


The host city of Junior Eurovision 2018 was decided before the contest, so depsite not winning the next edition will be held Minsk, Belarus
