United Kingdom To Select Entry February 7th

Yesterday, the BBC announced the date of their selection format - Eurovision:You Decide, alongside the venue and the hosts.

The selection will be taking place on Wednesday 7th February 2018, for the first time the selection will be hosted outside of London and instead in the Brighton Dome in the seaside town, Brighton does have some link to the Eurovision Song Contest however, hosing the contest back in 1974 where ABBA won with their worldwide famous hit "Waterloo" and the Swedish prescence will be felt in Brighton in 2018 when Mel Giedroyc will be returning to host, but also Eurovision 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw will be co-hosting alongside her, this is the first time Mel will have a co-host for the selection in the three years she has been hosting. Måns has featured at the You Decide format in the past, as a performing guest back in 2016. Måns is no stronger to hosting and presenting duties, having hosted countless programmes in his native Sweden including their selection show Melodifestivalen back in 2010, as well co-hosting Eurovision 2016 alongside Petra Mede.

Keeping in theme with the previous two selections, six songs will be selected and advance to the live show, there each song will perform and will be voted on by the public as well an professional jury, once the marks from the public and jury are combined, the winner will be announced and they shall be off to Lisbon to represent the United Kingdom, the six songs in contention will be released for the public to hear in January 2018, but no official date has been given for their release, last year's entry "Never Give Up On You" was co-wrote by Eurovision 2013 winner Emmelie De Forest at a writing camp set up a few months prior, many fans are hoping for something similar in regards to the 2018 entry, and they may be luck, with a similar songwriting camp taken place a few weeks ago where Iceland 2012 and 2016 entry Greta Salome was spotted to be in attendance, will a song she wrote be in the final six? We shall find out in January.
