Ex-Common Linnets Singer Waylon To Represent The Netherlands


After months of speculation, many different names and many different names withdrawing themselves from contention, today AVROTROS have finally announced who is representing The Netherlands in Eurovision 2018, and it is Eurovision 2014 runner up country singer Waylon.

Waylon, is also the first confirmed returning artist in this years contest, having previously represented The Netherlands as part of the duo, The Common Linnets in 2014. They placed 2nd behind Conchita Wurst with their country ballad "Calm After The Storm" but this time is going solo.

Since his time away from the contest Waylon has released two studio albums titled "Heaven After Midnight" and "Seeds" as well as joining The Voice Holland last year as a coach and winning the show in his debut season with singer Pluen Bierbooms and is currently a judge again on this current season, which is airing now in The Netherlands, with the finale of season 8 planned to take place during February. This is the second time a mentor has been announced as their Eurovision act during the show being aired, followed Trinjte being announced for the 2015 contest during filming of The Voice Holland in 2014, which was won by 2017 act O'G3NE

AVROTROS first teased the announcement this morning with a video of looking through someones eyes giving small details away about the act, it hinted at someone being a coach on The Voice, a guitarist and was male, however a few hours later it was officially confirmed, many fan media sites and Dutch natives however thought the act was going to be "Within Temptation" lead singer Sharon Den Adel, the band had put up a tweet stating they had an announcement to make November 10th and listed her name in the photo
