San Marino launches it's search for Eurovision 2018!

San Marino's broadcaster SMTV have today announced in a press conference that they will launching an internet search to find their representative for Eurovision 2018. They have teamed up with a new website, 1in360.com to launch their search for the next global superstar!

How will the selection process work?

In the first part of the search, performers from any country, both soloists and groups, can upload a video to 1in360.com of them singing either an original song or a cover. They have between October 21 and November 30 to do so.

Once they have uploaded their video onto the website, the participants must receive at least 100 likes or shares on their video in order to be considered by the judges. Alternatively, they can pay a €4.99 fee to advance straight to the judges voting.

A team of judges will then select seven candidates alongside three wildcards to perform in live recorded shows that will be broadcast on the internet throughout Europe in January 2018. The ten candidates will all be revealed in December. Each artist will have their own dedicated songwriter who they will work with to create an original song.

In the live shows, the candidates will battle it out with each other until they reach the grand final, where a mix of televoting and jury voting will chose the act they want to see represent San Marino at Eurovision 2018. As well as getting to sing for San Marino at Eurovision, the successful candidate will also get a record deal.

The video below explains a little bit of how the whole process works:
