Ukraine Announce National Final Details
Ukraine, the hosts passing the Eurovision torch onto Portugal have announced the format for their selection process for 2018, and they are going back to their formula of Vidbir, the selection was used in 2017 to selection O.Torvald
UA:PC once again will work alongside STB, who will be responsible the organisation and running of the show itself, this will be the second year of the three year agreement between the broadcasters. The show will consist of two semi finals and one final, this is bringing down the the total number of shows from four in 2017 to three in 2018, with the semifinals taking place on February 10th and 17th, with the national final taking place on February 24th.

It is unconfirmed how many songs will be brought forward to compete in the show, last year a total of 24 songs were selected and brutally whittled down to just six to compete in the grand final, in a situation which mirrored the 2016 selection, the top two entries - "Time" by O.Torvald and "I Love You" by Tatyanna tied after the jury and televote points were combined, but O.Torvald won the right to represent on home soil after picking up more votes from the public, however this support from the Ukranian public did no transcend across Europe and in the Grand Final, finishing a very poor 24th place - the worse placing Ukraine has ever received in its years participating. They received points from six countries in the jury voting but only half of that in the public voting, meaning they finished on a combined total of 36 points.
