United Kingdom| BBC Song Submissions Are Now Open

SOURCE: BBC

In the last 20 minutes the bosses at the BBC have confirmed that they have opened the submissions process for the United Kingdom to chose it's Eurovision entry at the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon 2018.

The BBC are sticking to the same formula as lasy year, where publically selected entries will be considered and shortlisted by a representative panel of the official UK Eurovision fan club (OGAE UK) members. They are also looking for songs from professional songwriters.

Record Industry Executive and Music Consultant to the BBC Hugh Goldsmith has said, "I'm determined that we, the UK, are able to build on our excellent showing of 2017 thanks to Lucie Jones' superlative performance of the powerful ballad Never Give Up On You. To this end I am, again, looking for songs with emotive lyrics, memorable melodies and brilliant productions. However, success at Eurovision can also be about originality and the element of surprise. So, please also send us your songs if they are creatively fresh, brave and a little bit different".

Guy Freeman who is synonymous with Eurovision in the UK has also stated, "For anyone out there who thinks they have a brilliant song that can resonate with millions of people around the world and the 2018 jurors this is your chance and we'd love to hear from you".

The BBC have also confirmed that they are sticking to the same national final which will remain as "Eurovision: You decide". This will allow the public to vote and decide on who they want to send to Lisbon. Further details will be released later in the year. This sounds like winning talk from the BBC who clearly want to do well at Eurovision and reverse its fortunes.
