Slovenia Confirms Participation, And Opens Up Song Submission For Eurovision 2018

The national broadcaster for Slovenia RTV SLO have confirmed their participation for the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lisbon 2018. Today, is the final day that countries have to officially notify the EBU of their intentions for the forthcoming Eurovision, and in doing so Slovenia have become the 34th country to officially and publically announce their intentions. A list of all nations over the next few weeks will be issued by the European Broadcasting Union that will confirm all participating countries.
Slovenia have made no secret that it wanted to participate again. It had previously stipulated that its next entry would be sung in the nations native language, and not English. In announcing their participation today, Slovenia have also opened up their submission for composers to send in their songs to the national broadcaster. Anyone wanting to do so will have up until midnight on Wednesday 15th November 2017 to do so. The rules can be found on the RTV SLO website.
Although not officially publicised it is more than likely that Slovenia will adopt EMA (Evrovizijska Melodija) as their national final. They have done so since 1996 with the exception of 2012 and 2013.
In Kyiv the country was represented by Omar Naber with the song "On My Way" . It was his second attempt for Slovenia, which coincidentally saw him try first time in Kyiv 2005 with the son "Stop". Both times he failed to qualify for the Grand Final. This year saw him come 17th with only 36 points. Stay tuned for further information on "EMA" or any other news for Slovenia.
