Ireland's Song Submission For Eurovision 2018 Open

The search for Ireland's next Eurosong has begun. The national broadcaster for Ireland RTÉ has begun an open call to find the next song that will represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.

Michael Kealy, the head of delegation for Ireland has said, " We're looking for a killer song performed by an act with vast experience of playing live to big crowds".

It has been reported that Louis Walsh who picked Brendan Murray to represent Ireland at Kyiv, has still insisted that Ireland should not give up on the contest regardless of the previous results. Ireland have not been seen at a Grand Final since 2013. Louis Walsh still strongly believes that the country can top the leader board once again.

RTÉ seem to be using a different format compared to the internally selected option of last year. The official website of RTÉ are asking for professionals and talented writers that have success within the music industry. Perhaps hinting of a famous artist or songwriter.

RTÉ have added, "It is important to note that any entries submitted through this process (RTÉ open call for songs) will be considered alongside other compositions and performers which RTÉ may commission or secure independently".

These words seem to empathise that RTÉ mean business, and clearly want the best song to be present next year in Lisbon. If this means bypassing entries already submitted for a better one, the broadcaster is more than willing to do this. Even songs sung by specific artists maybe changed if the broadcaster wishes.

The call for songs is open for a short period and those intending to submit a song have until 5pm on Monday 6th November 2017. Stay tuned for further information on Ireland.
