Slovakia Will Not Return To Eurovision 2018

September 11, 2017

Slovakia's long stint away from the contest looks set to continue. Despite rumours of a return began to whisper following appointing a new director to the station RTVS, it has been confirmed today that Slovakia will not be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon in 2018. Slovakia last competed in the contest back in Baku, 2012, in Baku Slovakia came dead last in their heat, scoring only 22 points.

Slovakia in the past have always cited the high participation costs as a reason for their non participation since 2013, and not their results, Slovakia have not had the best time in Eurovision, their last final apperance coming in 1998 and failing to qualify for the final in any of their four attempts in their brief return from 2009-2012, despite the high praise and love for their 2010 entry "Horehronie" performed by Kristina, despite it finishing 16th in her heat in Oslo, many fans still class this entry as one of the best not to qualify for the final in recent contests.

How do you feel about Slovakia sitting out for another year? Any other countries you wish would return also? make sure to let us know!
