JESC 2017 | Surprise announcements coming... what could they be?

Back in August, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) released a list of the 16 countries that will compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017. However, a recent article published on the official Junior Eurovision official website might suggest otherwise.

They began their article by saying: “So far 16 countries have confirmed participation”. They then go onto say: “However there may well be some other surprise announcements along the way!”

A lot of people are speculating that Bulgaria will confirm their participation for Junior Eurovision 2017. They initially confirmed their participation in May 2017; however, after the appointment of a new Director General Konstantin Kamenarov at Bulgaria's main broadcaster BNT, Bulgaria's participation in Junior Eurovision 2017 and Eurovision 2018 remains in jeopardy.

Another country that could be country number 17 is Israel. After Eurovision 2017, Israeli broadcaster IBA shut down and the successor channel, IBPC is currently not a member of the EBU, a requirement in order to take part in any Eurovision event. However, the EBU and IPBC have come to an agreement in which Israel would be allowed to participate in Eurovision events.

Will any other countries confirm their participation? Or will a new country make it's debut? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
