Australia Confirm Eurovision 2018 Participation
The list of nations wanting to participate in Eurovision 2018 are coming in thick and fast now. The next to confirm its participation is Australia who via their television network SBS, have confirmed they want to bring an artist to Lisbon next year in a bit to win Eurovision 2018.
Although it has emerged recently that there are plans for Eurovision Asia, SBS are keen to demonstrate their loyalty to the Eurovision brand by sending a performer to Portugal in 2018. Next year will be Australia's 4th attempt to win the Eurovision crown having debuted in 2015. They have an impressive record having never placed outside the top ten. Their best result was back in 2016 where Dami Im produced for the nation a second placing.
The managing director for SBS stated, " SBS is proud to secure Australia's return as competitors in the Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth year, as the country's unique affection and passion for Eurovision continue to grow". These comments were seconded by Paul Clarke, their head of delegation who said, "It's wonderful that we're back! In the three years that we have competed in Eurovision we have achieved huge success".
Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey will also return as comentators for the second year running after Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang ceased with the role in 2017. Although, a little early to say it is very likely that Lee Lin Chin is likely to be the nations spokesperson, as she has quite a large following herself.
Last year Isaiah Firebrace gave Australia their third consecutive top 10 finish with the song, "Don't Come Easy". He placed 9th and scored 171 points, although only 2 were given from the public. Who would you like to see Australia send next time? Let us know in the comments below.
